Project List: New Hardware

Thanks to this blog for holding me accountable, I’m slowly ticking off projects around the house that I’ve been putting off.
The first item (and easiest to tackle) has officially been checked off. Remember these pulls on our kitchen cabinets?
The new anthropologie pulls came when we were in Hawaii. It’s a fun little change…
I enjoy having some bling to look at with my morning tea.
It wasn’t anything too dramatic but a little uplifting change. When you know that you’ll be staying in a rental, I’m all for putting a little money into the place to make it feel personal and like your home. This change cost less than a dinner for two out and we can take the knobs with us when we move and put back the old knobs.
What are your thoughts on investing in a rental?

I am all about fixing up a rental. You should see what all I cart to Florida for a five week rental. Home is where you take it. Years ago we lived in a little rental that the owner let us paint all of the rooms and he paid for the paint! The knobs look great and you will look at them many times a day so good decision. Maybe you could paint or wallpaper the backs of the glass cabinets to go with the knobs.

Renting is usually cheaper than the interest and property tax on a home so you may as well put some of the difference into making it nicer. Plus with rents what they are now, putting a couple of months rent into the place you call home is a relatively small investment for the big return feeling settled gives you.
