The New Duds: Apartment Tour

August 22, 2011 at 8:31 AM 9 comments

I’ve received e-mails and texts from people saying they want to see the new place, I figure why not give you all a little tour of a bunch of empty rooms.

Welcome to my new home which I love with my whole heart.

First things first you have to walk up some stairs; but once you’re up, I’ll be greeting you with a glass of wine:

Now, that we both have a drink in hand, let’s take a look around.  We’ll begin with the formal living room –

The light fixture in this room is original to the home (pre 1906 earthquake) and it inspired the pale pink on the walls.

Off of that room is the dining room:

Complete with a fireplace – that isn’t working but sure is pretty.

Off of the dining room is the office:

Now lets walk down the hallway of this railroad apartment and see what else is around.

Ah, yes the bathroom.  Wish I had a better picture, but you get the idea for now.

On the opposite side of the hallway is our second bedroom.  It’s tiny so there is not much to see.

Again with the horrible photos – geez louis.  It must be that wine we’re drinking…

Let’s walk down the hallway a little more to the kitchen.

Aint she fab?!  Oooh la la.  I love it. 🙂

Now off of the kitchen is the little breakfast nook, where our bistro chairs will sit.  And behind those shutter doors is a washer/dryer – probably the most beautiful feature in the entire place.

Off of the breakfast nook lies the sun room.  This is where we’ll hang, drink some more wine and chatter.

Off of the sunroom lies the deck.  Mmmm…you smell that?  Burgers!!!  Yummy.

I hope you enjoyed the tour.  Next one will be with actual furniture in it but ya had to get the before first.  Sorry for the horrible I-phone pictures and my terrible composition.  Wowzer.  For the record, we are happy as clams here.  A huge thank you goes out to my mom and Glynnis and Brian for coming up Sunday morning and staying until the evening helping us schlep the remaining items from our old place to our new one.  It’s so nice to be living close to our parents again! 🙂

It was fun to see the before pictures and be part of the move yesterday. I look forward to the after pictures when everything is in place. Good luck – hold off on the glass of wine until you’re done!Oh actually, have one while you’re doing it instead….

Looks great! I especially like the deck and sun room feature. Which room gets to feature Graham’s surf board?

That is the loveliest apartment. I am ready to move in right now. Did you show the master bedroom that is crying out for a four poster bed? You are so lucky to have all of that fresh paint in pretty colors. Nice kitchen too. Good job Kate for finding the perfect spot for the two of you.

This is SO cute! How much fun to start decorating a new place with all of the things you brought with you. Loving the light fixtures and character of the place. Can’t wait to see more photos!

Oh my gosh, what a special space! I love the period details throughout (and, especially, the pre-‘quake fixture!). Cannot wait to see how you make this apartment your very own.
