Gone Fishin’
Gone fishing with my honey pie.
I’ll be back from Alaska July 11th. Can’t wait to share pictures with y’all then. I have a few posts set to go up while I’m away. Hope you have a wonderful two weeks!!
Photo Op
I was blog surfing and I came across this photo from Layla Grayce for a pink ruffled newborn petticoat. The pic is just so adorable and it stopped me in my tracks because I have the same settee…
Anybody want to lend me their newborn to replicate the photo? Joking – I don’t think people “lend” out newborns.
If you would like the petticoat, head on over to Layla Grayce.
In other baby news, (no, I’m not pregnant), High Street Market is having her annual vintage baby decor sale starting tomorrow morning:
Here is the sneak peak Kelly posted on her blog:
Super cute! I love the pillows and the brass duck hangers. Happy Shopping!
Leather Round Up
Today is my three year anniversary so I have to say a mini shout out to Graham whom I love very much. So happy we still find each other as adorable as we did on this Montana trip years ago…
I feel incredibly lucky to spend my life by your side. Mr. Know It All Google tells me that the traditional three year anniversary gift is leather. I decided it was best to hop onto 1st dibs for some anniversary budgetless shopping. For the record, our trip to Alaska is our amazing anniversary gift…but a girl can dream…
Bronze and Leather coffee table – $2,500
Pair of Arne Norell Safari Chairs – $4,100
Pair of brass/leather 50’s stools – $2,200
Leather covered French floor lamp – $5,500
Pierre Paulin Loung – $4,500
19th Century Wing Back Chair – “contact dealer for price” (read crazy pricey).
Which one would you pick? I think I’d go for the wing back chair – I really love an authentically weathered leather chair.
Alaska Prep
Friday, after work, Graham and I hit up our local REI to prep for our Alaska trip; we take off on Thursday for six days off fishing before a wedding in Anchorage. I’m getting a bit nervous for the trip since these are some things we had to pack…
The scariest thing on the list is a face net to keep away the mosquitoes. We also picked up some serious deet – the type of stuff that kills small children with one sniff. I’m attempting to look like I’m casting in this picture but it looks more like I’m clubbing a bear…take your pick.
We also need serious eye masks because it stays light all through the night. I actually love how it stays light and thought it was very cool the last time I was in Alaska. What worries me, is that my husband mentioned how we can continue fishing for as LONG as we want.
We also needed special, ultra-fashionable gloves in case it’s too cold but we need our fingers free to tie flies (excuse the non-manicure hands).
We did NOT need the luggable loo – thank God. But, I do appreciate how REI placed it next to the plastic wine cups.
We did NOT need special REI underwear and for that I am thankful.
We did NOT need ugly hippy shoes.
Apparently, I did not need a pair of red Sperry topsiders and for that I’m still not quite sure why I didn’t need them. Graham’s reasoning was that I already have them in brown and navy….ummmm…these are red and perfect for the 4th of July! The bears would love them.
For the first time in the history of knowing each other, Graham and I had different feelings about shopping. My feeling…
And Graham’s
Man in an outdoor store is just like a kid in a candy store.
Loot has been purchased and we are ready for our adventure. For reals, I’m totally excited!!
Happy Friday
Happy Friday!! Thank the sweet baby Jesus it’s about to be the weekend again – this week was another whirlwind for me, which is always a good thing! Last night, I went to my very first clothing swap, sponsored by Lulus, with bloggers and friends – Allie and Elisabeth. I showed up with a bag of clothes I never wear anymore and I left with these goodies…
Swapped me one heck of an upgrade. It was madness though.
What kind of madness will you be up to this weekend? Do tell. You know I LOVE to know!
Swing Arm Sconces
I am working with a client who is renting a beautiful apartment. She has a large living room but does not have any overhead lighting. We needed to be creative in terms of lighting. I have suggested putting swing arm sconces above the sofa. I absolutely love the sophisticated look that it brings. Here is some inspiration…
There are some great swing lamp choices out there. Here are a few of my favorites…
Hudson Valley – available on Amazon – $279
Swing arm lamp – CSN Stores – $85.83
West Elm – Accordion Sconce – $129
Robert Abbey – Ant Bee Pharmacy Sconce – CSN Stores
George Kovaks – Reading Room Swing Arm Sconce – $130
Which sconce would you choose?
Rustic Chic
In eight days, Graham and I will be heading on a great adventure to Alaska. While we start to gather up our gear for the trip, I thought I’d show inspiration pictures of rustic chic living rooms, in case I get tired of fishing and feel the need to decorate the lodge we’re staying at.
I’m working on an apartment now that has some rustic chic elements to it and I absolutely love the way it’s turning out. I can’t wait to share! (All photos via Country Living).
Tres Tintas
I am smitten with this edgy wallpaper by Tres Tintas, a Barcelona based company. Founded by three brothers they look to Latin American and Spanish artists to create the stunning works of art.
You can find the paper sold closer to home at Walnut Wallpaper in LA.
Happy 30th birthday, Orin Wicks. 🙂
Baby Shower Recap
This past Saturday, I had a great time co-hosting a shower. The weather could not have been better and it was so much fun catching up with friends. I thought I’d share pictures from the event today…
We ate at one long table outside at my mom’s house and then moved over to a rose garden area under a large oak tree to open presents. My co-host, Rita, is a very talented interior designer so we had a great time working on the table decor together.
We decided to go with the colors that Shannon (our special mom to be) is using for her nursery. I found pink fabric that looked similar to her bedding and with the help of my mom we sewed them into runners for the table.
For the flowers, we used mint julep cups and baby silver cups that my mom had to run down the table. For the center of the table, we used a blue and white vase and put in roses from my mom’s garden. Each table seat had little gray boxes filled with Shannon’s favorite candies and we tied in the gray with the gray and white striped straws.
And now for some people pictures. Shannon was glowing and oh so beautiful in her colorful dress. Here she is below with her proud mom.
All of us girls went to high school together – such fun to get back together again.
Thank you to my mom for hosting the party at her house, for helping with making the table runners, going to Cost Plus with me for finishing details, and making the flower arrangements. We couldn’t have done it without you!
We all can’t wait to meet Baby Foote in August!!
Happy Friday
Happy Friday!! I’ve got a busy weekend ahead of me. Saturday is the baby shower, I’m co-hosting…I’ve got to finish up all the details on it. Sunday is Father’s Day; it still is a tough day for me. I always have my dad on my mind and much more so on Father’s Day. He lit up our family in so many ways and while we try to keep his fire going, there’s a huge space in all of our lives missing.
We miss you and love you, Dad!!
Horrible segue here but Dad always loved a party. And Saturday’s party will be a great one. For the baby shower, one of the details we will be using is striped straws (fingers crossed they make it in the mail on time). I ordered them from this ETSY shop: IsaKay Boutique. If you’re already planning out your Fourth of July, I’d pick up some straws…
They always add such a fun element of festivity. I love that Melissa of the blog, Seagrass Interiors, went with green striped straws at her beautiful wedding…
They matched the groom’s tie perfectly…
For more pictures of their gorgeous wedding, check them out on her fantastic blog, here.
Happy Friday – hope you have a fabulous weekend!!
