Thriftstore Purchases

I have this morning walk that is nothing but trouble. When I find time to go on it, I usually stop into some of my favorite thrift stores and without fail, I end up walking home and walking right back to the shop with a wallet.

Yesterday, I found some goodies there.

Love #1: a snake skin belt for $9. I have been wanting snake skin in my life, as seen by “Python Praise” post. While, I would prefer to have it as a pop in my decor, it sure never hurts an outfit! Decor and fashion are always tied together.

When I got it home, I read the tag that it’s genuine snake skin – a little creepy…but it does make the $9 an even better deal.

Love #2: an ikat upholstery gold, brown, green and pink, unused, on the bolt fabric. The fabric set me back $8. I honestly still can’t decide if I love it or if I hate it. Help me! What do you think?

Potential for thrift store chair from same shop seat –

Or a roman shade in the bathroom where I have brown shower curtains. Or it could sit in my ever growing fabric pile. If I do use it, I’m leaning towards bathroom because if I get sick of the fabric, I can change out the shade, since I make them myself.

What do you think? Have I lost my decor marbles on this piece of fabric? Or is it a fun piece mixing the ikat, chevron, and Navajo trends?

the ikat fabric is good; not great. . . but the snake skin belt is a classic, wonderful piece!!!!!!!!!!

I’m with you on the fabric. I think I got suckered by a good deal – it has a very nice texture to it where you can tell it’s very expensive fabric. It’s a silk/ cotton blend so I think I was lured into the good deal of the whole thing. And I’ve been slowly backing away from liking it at all. I LOVE the belt. 🙂

It’s cool! I don’t love it with the chair, but I could totally see it as a Roman blind in the bathroom. Or a big cushion on your turquoise settee…

I actually bought it for the turquoise settee. That’s exactly why I snagged it up – I thought they couldn’t be more perfect together and then I brought it home only to discover that the green in the fabric clashes with the settee. Agreed for not being good with the chair. It may go for it in the bathroom though.

You and the thrift stores, brilliant! I’ll have to come with you one day, you have such a good eye! Like the awesome white jean jacket I scored in Chicago. The belt is major!

Thank you! I am now very into thrift store shopping, which is funny and fun! I picked up the most major of major christmas gifts that I’ll have to blog about after Christmas. So sad to give this huge find away but tis the season of giving.

lost your marbles. It is a gold chair. GOLD. it’s got enough going on with the GOLD already. one simple dark color or simple design.

Agreed! My gut has been telling me to cover the seat in black linen since the moment I bought it.

I really like the fabric and think it looks great on the chair.

Fabulous, just Fabulous. That chair and fabric are terrific together.I think that I just gave my snake belt from 30 years ago to the Goodwill—it was far too small for me but would have fit you! What a shame.
