Andy Goldsworthy

This coming weekend, Graham and I will be headed to our family beach house with the rest of my family to celebrate my mom’s 65th birthday. One of the very fun activities we’ll be engaged in is making art out of driftwood and rocks on the beach and let the water sweep it away, a la Andy Goldsworthy. So in preparation for the fun event, I thought I’d share the magnificent work of Andy Goldsworthy:

As seen by his work, Andy creates site-specific sculptures. Most of his sculptures are not permanent – rather he photographs them and lets wind or the natural elements of the earth sweep his work away. He does also do some permanent installations, such as this –

The Neuberger Cairn (2001) at the Neuberger Museum of Art

He is a master at working with nature; we’ll see how us amateurs do on Saturday.

So happy to see this post as I’m a huge fan of Andy Goldsworthy. Have you seen “Spire” in the presidio? Let’s go check it out!
